George Henry Lawler
Services for George Henry Lawler, 97, who died Tuesday, April 19 at The Village in Indianola, were April 25 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial at the Belmont Cemetery, Milo. George grew up on a farm on the Warren/Lucas County line. He graduated from Chariton High School in 1942. He was drafted into the Army in 1945 and served stateside at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. On July 27, 1947, George married Nina Verlee Milleson at the Milo Christian Union Church.
They moved to the “South Farm” where they lived and farmed for 13 years. In 1960, the family moved to Indianola. George worked at Electrical Engineering & Equipment and then Herman M. Brown Heavy Equipment as an electrician. In 1971, George missed the farm so much, they bought an 80-acre farm northeast of Milo. They lived there until moving to Indianola in 1998. A year and a half ago, they moved to the Village.
George was a charter member of the Indianola Christian Union Church and a long-time member of the Milo American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Nina Lawler; children, Roger (Loraine) Lawler, Anna Miller, Sidney (Lora) Lawler, and Jim (Kristen) Lawler; and many other relatives.
Visitation was April 24 at Overton Funeral Home.
