The circus is coming to town

Posted August 12, 2015 in Community Featured, Norwalk

First, I am pleased to welcome Jenna Dean with Salon Glam and Chuck Smith with Matt Cale State Farm Insurance to the Norwalk Chamber!

Our Party before the Works event had 687 people celebrate the beginning of the 4th of July holiday weekend. Thank you to those of you who attended and to our many volunteers that help the chamber with this event! We will be donating $500 to the Norwalk Lions Club for the fireworks display.

Next Wednesday the Norwalk Area Chamber of Commerce will be bringing to town for the 3rd time the Culpepper & Merriweather circus! The circus is celebrating their 30th anniversary this year so it should be a fun time for everyone! You can still get tickets in advance until Tuesday August 18th. Tickets are for sale at City State Bank, Community Bank, Scott’s Foods, Fareway, Casey’s, City hall or at the Chamber office. They will be having two shows. One is at 5:00 and the other one is at 7:30 and it is being held behind St. John the Apostle Catholic Church’s empty lot south from the church. Thank you to all the businesses that bought/donated tickets for this event. Also thank you to the church for letting us use their property and to our committee members, Jon Niemeyer, Kristy Niemeyer, Amanda Reid-Raper, Sarah Dreier and Tim Mineart.

Our next event is Norwalktoberfest! This will be our 2nd year of trying out this new concept for our community and we hope you will join us! New this year will be a homebrewer beer contest. If you would like to be in the running for best Brew Master of Norwalk, please let the chamber know by Friday, Sept. 18th. You can submit as many different kinds of beer that you make but it must be home brewed. We will have a panel of 3-5 chamber member judges that enjoy a variety of beers themselves.

Also new this year we will have Klassy Krew BBQ be our food vendor, so save the date for Saturday, October 10th 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. for Norwalktoberfest! Thank you to City State Bank Trust & Investments for the use of their parking lot.

I can’t believe that summer is almost over already! Soon kids will be running around, going to school, busy with activities so I just want to remind everyone to be careful and watch out for the kids.
