Urbandale Public Art Park Call to Artists

Urbandale, IA – October 30, 2014 – The Urbandale Public Art Committee invites local artists to submit an application to participate in the 2015-16 Urbandale Art Park Exhibition.

The Urbandale Art Park opened in spring 2013 as a permanent outdoor sculpture park with annually changing exhibits. Four exhibits are currently on display. The Art Park is located at 3600 86th Street, just south of Douglas Avenue and the Urbandale City Hall.

The Urbandale Public Art Committee will oversee the selection of two to three sculptures for exhibition in the Urbandale Art Park during 2015-2016. Selected artists will receive a $1,200 stipend for loaning the work for the exhibition time period of 10 months. There is no application fee.

The exhibited artwork must be the original work of the artist (in concept and execution) and available for purchase. The advertised sale price should include a 25% commission that the Urbandale Public Art Committee will retain on pieces sold in the exhibit year.

Entry Requirements
Applicants seeking consideration for their work must complete an application form including:
o   A narrative of the artist’s concept and date of creation

o   A detailed explanation of how the piece will be secured or anchored when installed

o   Evidence of the value of the artwork

o   Visual photographs depicting several views of the art work (in JPEG or PDF format)

o   A brief artist biography

o   List of professional references

o   Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. CST on Tuesday, December 30, 2014.
