Single Moms, together in Christ

Point of Grace Church offers a support group for mothers who are raising their children alone.

It can be challenging to get active and stay active in a new church community. The people of today lead busy lives that complicate schedules and stretch free time thin. It can be even harder to make time for God and fellowship when you are raising a family all on your own. At Point of Grace Church, however, there is a special support system that both encourages and praises single mothers looking to find themselves in Christ.

Single Moms is a special group in the active church that puts the focus on women who are raising children as single parents. Group sessions are held each Wednesday from 6:30- 8:30 p.m., running on the same schedule as Wednesday’s children’s activities.

“This gives mothers the chance to have a free time to connect,” said Lori Hommer.

Hommer, pastor of Spiritual Formation at Point of Grace Church, has nothing but kind words about the Single Moms group at her church.

“It’s a great opportunity for community and fellowship within the church,” she says.

Single Moms is an active part of Point of Grace and hosts and helps out with several events throughout the year, making its presence known and pushing for a difference in the community.

The group is led by Teahl Bader, the Single Moms Ministry Director at Point of Grace. Bader is a single mother herself and was raised by a single father. She spends her time leading the Single Moms group and also runs a separate organization called Single Parent Provision.

“She has really made the group what it is today and does wonders with it,” says Hommer.

Interested in getting involved? Hommer encourages single mothers in the church and beyond to reach out for their chance at this unique fellowship opportunity.

“It has changed the lives of those involved for the better,” says Hommer. “It’s a great opportunity for any single mothers out there who are looking to manage their lives, their children and their relationship with God.”

Mothers can visit the Single Moms section of Point of Grace’s website to find out more about the group. Interested parties are invited to reach out to Bader, Hommer or the group. E-mails can be sent to SingleMoms@PointofGrace.com for more information.
