The Posusta family didn’t have to move to the country to find some private space in Ankeny.

Matt, Jen, Madi, 11; Morgan, 8; Myla, 6; and their dog, Kobe, moved to their new home just a year ago. They moved from Clover Ridge in Ankeny, just a few miles south of their new place, to a private, wooded lot on a cul-de-sac.

Using Jen’s interior design background, the family custom built their house and chose many unique features.

“The large kitchen is great for hanging out or entertaining family and friends,” Jen says. “And the covered deck provides a beautiful view of our wooded lot.”

The home is an open-concept featuring cool tones, natural stone and tile. It’s both functional and inviting. Jen says she and Matt enjoy the office space, as they both work from home. Matt is a real estate agent and Jen is an Advocare distributor.

SONY DSCJen says their neighborhood, Deer Creek, is family-friendly, has a lot of beautiful, unique homes, and is close to Ankeny’s necessities with a quiet, country feel. Their girls are busy with basketball, volleyball, dance and soccer, so they needed easy access to practices and events.

Deer Creek is located just northeast of First Street and gets its name from the natural spring creek that runs through the community. It’s surrounded by trees that creates a one-mile greenbelt. Future on-site amenities will include a city park, walking trails, a community center, a business and entertainment district and a school.

This 10-year project entails mostly residential development —nearly 400 acres — with a variety of single family and luxury estate homes, townhomes and condominiums. The overall master plan includes 120 acres of commercial and mixed-use land to integrate local businesses and large retail and office businesses.
