Iowa ghosts

The Grimes Public Library will host a paranormal presentation at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.

Terry Fisk with “Unexplained Research” will present a program titled “Iowa Ghosts and the Afterlife” for Halloween. Recommended for teens and adults due to the program’s spooky subject. No registration required.

Saturday movie
Saturday, Oct. 18, noon
Celebrate Teen Read Week “Turn Dreams into Reality.” Come watch a film based on the inspiring true story of a young man making his football dreams come true. Enjoy some snacks and discuss how you can plan to achieve your own dreams. No registration needed.

Halloween movie
Saturday, Oct. 25, 10 a.m.
Join us today for a special movie to get in the spooky Halloween spirit. Ages 5 and older; no registration.

Boo Bash
Thursday, Oct. 30, 6:30-8 p.m.
The library is having a Halloween party. Come in your spookiest costume for snacks, crafts and games. All ages; no registration.

Tail Waggin’ Readers
Saturday, Nov. 1, 9-11 a.m.
Improve your reading skills and make a new friend by reading aloud to a therapy dog. Students in second, third or fourth grade may sign up for a 20-minute time slot to read to a therapy dog partner. Please call the library to register, 986-3551.

Bubble bottles
Saturday, Nov. 1, 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Come learn about the chemistry of lava lamps and create your own non-toxic lava lamp to take home.  Ages 5-plus; please register.

Adult Book Club
Monday, Nov. 3, 6 p.m.
Pick up a copy of this month’s book, “Love Medicine” by Louise Erdrich, and join us for a discussion.

Kids Night: Fall Suncatchers
Tuesday, Nov. 4, 6:30 p.m.
Come paint a fall suncatcher to take home and decorate your window. Ages 5+; no registration.

Early Out Adventures: Dia de los Muertos
Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1:30 p.m.
Día de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday in which family and friends gather to celebrate those who have passed. Learn about the holiday and create one of its most popular decorations: sugar skulls. There is a $5 supplies fee for this event. Please register.
