Not too spooky

Ghosts and goblins are great, but this story time won’t leave you scared straight. Come to the library from 6-6:45 p.m. Oct. 23 for this special Halloween Not Took Spooky storytime with a little bit of spook and a whole lot of fun. Limit 35.

“Monuments Men” presentation
Oct. 14, 6:30 p.m.
Join us for a slide show and discussion of Winterset’s own Monuments Man, George Stout. Nancy Trask is a local expert who will be sharing historical research about Stout, on whom George Clooney’s character in the film “Monuments” Men was based.

Card making class
Nov. 1, 1-2:30 p.m.
Join us at the library for an afternoon of card making. Demonstrator Jennifer Gardner will bring some supplies and you will have a chance to make a couple handmade cards. Minimum 10, maximum 20

Heath Lee author visit
Nov. 18, 6:30 p.m.
Join us for this fascinating evening with local author and expert, HeathLee, as she brings to life her more than 20 years of research into Winnie Davis, the daughter of the first and only Confederate president, Jefferson Davis. Copies of her book will be available for purchase, with a book signing  to follow the program.

Creation Station
Session II – Nov. 13, Dec. 11,
9:45-10:15 a.m.
Registration starts Oct. 20 and Oct. 27.
Join us on the second Thursday of every month for this special toddler craft time. Each program will feature a different theme where we will share a story. Then your toddler or preschooler can create simple crafts to take home. Ages 2 and older. Limit 30.

Limit 35. Registration starts Oct. 20 and Oct. 27.
November is Picture Book Month. What better place to celebrate than at the library? We’ll play the life-size board game Bookland. Families can explore the land of reading by answering questions about some well-known picture books. Each child will be a winner in this game and leave with the best prize of all — a new book.
