Looking ahead

Posted October 08, 2014 in Community Featured, Norwalk

Thank you to those of you who attended our first Norwalktoberfest. As we spent more than nine months planning this new event, we have come up with some ideas for next year’s event, so I hope you will plan to attend next fall 2015.

We would especially like to thank the following sponsors for this event: City State Bank, Accelerated Rehab-Norwalk, Bill Wright-CBRE/Hubbell, UnityPoint Clinic-Norwalk, Lane Insurance, Eggers Bilt Homes, Capital City Fruit, Norwalk Nursing & Rehab, High Pointe Apartments, Four Seasons Auto Wash, Norwalk Lions Club, N/Warren Town & County, Re/Max American Dream Realty, Casey’s, Norwalk Living magazine, Warrior Run, Des Moines Truck Brokers, Consumer Credit of Des Moines, Norwalk Family Dentistry, PixieDust & Heels Boutique and Des Moines Financial Group LLC. A special thank you to Nicole Smith and Amanda Reid-Rapper for planning the event and to our volunteers who helped us. We truly appreciate it all.

Planning session
On Oct. 9, the Norwalk Area Chamber of Commerce board will hold its annual planning session for 2015. We would like to hear from the residents and business community what you like about Norwalk, what kind of events or businesses you would like to come to Norwalk, etc. If you wish to share your ideas/thoughts, email the Chamber at norwalkchamber@msn.com.

Soon we will begin our membership drive and also take nominations for Chamber Member of the Year, Chamber Business of the Year and Citizen of the Year.  If anyone in Norwalk would like to nominate someone, let us know by emailing us at norwalkchamber@msn.com or calling 981-0619.

Also looking ahead, the Warren County Ecomonic Development Corporation will be once again host its Excellence in Business Awards and combine that with its Small business Grant contest. Look for more info via Norwalk Chamber’s Facebook updates or keep in the know by becoming a Norwalk Chamber Member yourself!

The Norwalk Chamber partners with WCEDC and Simpson College to offer a variety of informative classes to start a business or find a business mentor to help you with an existing business issue plus many other things. New things are happening in the Warren County area, and you won’t want to miss out on your opportunity to start or expand your business.

Trick or treat!
A couple things to remind you about: Trick or Treat in Norwalk is on Thursday, Oct. 30, 6-8 p.m., and Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 4. If you are not sure where you go to vote, you can always call the Warren County’s Auditor’s office at 961-1020.
