Gary “Meatloaf” White, 68, died Friday, October 3, 2014 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Iles Grandview Park Chapel. Burial will be in Lowman Cemetery in Runnells.

Gary was born August 11, 1946 to Ordie and Helen (Whitmore) White in Des Moines. He grew up in rural Runnells and remained true to the Eastside throughout his life. After completing High School, Gary served in the Army overseas with the young American troops in Viet Nam. He was proud of his service to his country. Gary was an over the road truck driver for many years and retired from Larry Fleck and Son Trucking. Gary’s passions were NASCAR and his puppies.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce of Des Moines; father, Ordie of Bondurant; son, Eric (Katie) White of Denver, CO; step-sons: Tony (Heather), Chris, and Mark Abuhl all of Des Moines; grandchildren: Elliette (3 months old), Laura and Linzee; sister, Jeanie West of Pleasantville; special friends, Scooter and Snoopy. Gary was preceded in death by his mother and grandparents.

The greatest legacy Gary leaves for those who knew him was “He Did It His Way.”

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm Monday, October 6, 2014 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to an Animal Rescue organization of choice. On-line condolences are welcome at www.IlesCares.com.
