Rockin’ and Rollin’ Down the Track for Kids

Posted October 06, 2014 in Web Exclusives

Des Moines, IA – Iowans are getting ready for race day with their own homemade cars in the inaugural “Morning Moose Pinecar Derby” to benefit kids with cancer.  The event will be held on Saturday, October 11th at Jordan Creek Town Center and feature the traditional Pinewood Derby cars that have been associated with scouting for decades.  Listener built cars will have a shot to win in two different categories – Fastest Car and Best Looking Car – both score a $500 grand prize.

“Now dads can finally get credit for the cars they’ve been making for years,” said LAZER morning show host Moose.  “It’ll be a fun day for everyone and benefit a great cause.”

Listeners are encouraged to pre-register online at prior to the deadline -Wednesday, October 8th at 5 p.m.

The “Morning Moose Pinecar Derby” is presented by MB2 Raceway and Iowa’s Zero Fatalities Program.  The event supports the Children’s Cancer Connection serving all families affected by childhood cancer who are living, treated, or diagnosed in the state of Iowa, regardless of treatment outcome.

Contestants can buy pre-made kits at hobby stores or online. Or build the car themselves, just like the Cub Scouts, but they must follow the rules here –
