Ankeny Christian Academy Pledge Challenge Succeeds

Posted October 06, 2014 in Ankeny, Community Web Exclusives

For the past few years Ankeny Christian Academy has been conducting a “Forward in Faith” capital campaign to raise $1.4 million. The purpose for the school in raising the money has centered on many needs including building improvements, classroom construction due to increased enrollment, increasing teachers’ salaries, and technology and curriculum enhancements. School leaders are pleased to state that needs are being met in all of these areas as the campaign has been conducted.

In December, 2013, ACA Director of Development Lydia Quick shared with the school’s board of education, foundation board, and association membership that three donors had come together to provide up to $250,000 as a matching challenge gift to help ACA complete its “Forward in Faith” capital campaign. At the time Quick stated, “These donors are committed to the mission of ACA, their gift provides exciting energy as well as a challenge to all current and potential donors to successfully meet our goals.” Quick noted that the three donors stipulated a time period to gather challenge pledges from January thru September, 2014. The donors, in turn, would match any new funds collected up to $250,000.

On October 1st, Josh Craighead, Chairman of the “Forward in Faith” campaign, announced to school leaders and association members that challenge pledged funds had been met in full. In making his announcement, Craighead thanked donors for their support. “In the next several months, the Administration, Board of Education along with the Education Foundation of Ankeny Christian Academy will be working diligently on planning for the future of ACA,” said Craighead. “These are exciting times at ACA!”

Quick also noted that through the donor challenge process, overall campaign pledges had doubled; now totaling 220. She also stated that 115 existing and new donors pledged as a part of the challenge, knowing that their pledge would be doubled to help reach the $500,000 challenge goal.

“I want to personally thank the families, individuals, and businesses that helped Ankeny Christian Academy reach our goal of $250,000 in pledged money,” said Craighead. “We are excited about the momentum this challenge has provided to our campaign and school. Pray with us as we continue to move Forward in Faith!”
