The Rev. Richard J. Lintner of The Reserve in Urbandale died at Mercy West Lakes, Monday, September 15, 2014. He was born on August 16, 1926 in Lansing, MI to Dr. R.C. and Gladys Lintner. He was raised in Ionia, MI and graduated from Michigan State University and subsequently from Seabury-Western Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois. He was ordained an Episcopal Priest in December of 1953 in Christ Church, Charlevoix, MI. He also held a Master of Public Affairs specializing in management of programs and facilities for the aging from the University of Minnesota. After serving several churches he came to Iowa in 1971 and for many years was priest-in-charge/Vicar of St. Andrew’s Church n Chariton and at times was an instructor at DMACC. At the time of retirement he was named Vicar Emeritus of St. Andrew’s and Honorary Canon of St. Paul’s Cathedral. Fr. Lintner was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, the ACLU, Lambda Legal and an honorary member of the NAACP. It is believed that he was the last surviving member of the South Iowa Chapter of the Flat Earth Society. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Lintner; a son, Christian Phillip Julius (Shin Kwon) Lintner of Minneapolis, MN; a daughter, Noelle “Trixie” Lintner of Carroll; two grandsons, Ian (Heather) Lintner of Des Moines and Stephen (Grace) Lintner of Bloomington,MN; and one granddaughter, Victoria Lintner of Minneapolis, MN. Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 18, 2014 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Following the service the body will be cremated and the ashes interred at a later date in Broughton Cemetery near Pontiac, IL alongside seven generations of his family. A visitation will be held 6 – 8 p.m., Wednesday, September 17 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Memorial Contributions may be made to: The ASPCA
