Des Moines, IA – October 4, 2014 – Cornerstone Community Credit Union, along with the Waterbury Neighborhood Association is hosting Oktoberfest on October 4, 2014 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Community Credit Union, 414 61st St, Des Moines, IA, to promote membership for both the credit union and the association.
“We love our Annual Oktoberfest celebration and want to share the experience with our neighbors. It is our chance to say thank you. You don’t have to travel to Munich (although, that would be fun!) for an Oktoberfest, just head to the lawn at Cornerstone Community Credit Union. We’ve had great events in the last 4 years. To us Oktoberfest is more than beer and lore, it is a community experience. We hope that you will join us at Oktoberfest 2014 – it will be a chance to celebrate our wonderful neighborhood!” WNA President – Melissa Stalvey
The event will include Tavern on the GO, Stam’s Chocolaterie, Jasper Winery, The Beaded Cat and Confluence Brewing Company with entertainment provided by Hedrick Shade. Individuals interested in attending the event are encouraged to bring a dessert item.
About Cornerstone Community Credit Union
82 years ago we staked our identity on the employees of Younkers Brothers Department Store and on being dedicated to providing the most diverse and contemporary selection of financial products and services ever since. Then you inspired us to make changes of our own. We took the resources and service standards you’ve come to rely on and went to a Community Charter in 2012 so that we may serve all potential and future members from the Des Moines Metro Area. So if you live or work in the Des Moines Metro, we would love to have you become a part of our family. About Waterbury Neighborhood
The neighborhood developed during the first half of the 20th century. The neighborhood is filled with a mix of architectural styles including Tudor, Colonial Revival, Prairie,
Modern, and Craftsman Bungalows. Waterbury landmarks include the Temple B’Nai Jeshurun,
Merrill Middle School, and the main Waterbury Garden located at the intersection of Polk
Boulevard and Ingersoll Avenue. These landmarks along with the peaceful natural landscape make
Waterbury one of the most desirable neighborhoods within Des Moines.
Waterbury is an established neighborhood that benefits from a mature tree canopy overhead. The tree canopy along with the rolling hills and curvilinear development pattern provide a picturesque setting that sets Waterbury apart from suburban neighborhoods. In fact many Waterbury residents cited the trees and natural landscape as their primary reason for locating in the Waterbury neighborhood.
