Registration is going on now By Barb S
Preschool storytime registration at the Fort Dodge Public Library began on Thursday, Sept. 11. If your child is between the ages of 3 and 6 but has not yet started kindergarten, we’d love to provide that first opportunity to interact with other children without Mom or Dad in the room.
Laurie Hotz and Rachel Lavender have planned 30-minute programs to introduce children to letters, sounds, activities and, of course, stories and books that will help them get ready to learn to read. Stop by the children’s desk to sign up your child or call 573-8167, ext. 242 to reserve a spot. Programs begin Sept. 17-18 and continue through October.
If you’ve been in the library recently you’ve seen our new lighting being installed. All of the round can lighting as well as the globes throughout the main part of the building have been replaced with energy efficient LED fixtures. We’ve also added some badly needed lighting over the children’s area, as well as the DVD and audiobooks areas. This project is funded by a gift from the Gwen Scharfenberg estate.
The new television season will begin in a couple weeks. The library has many of last season’s episodes of your favorite shows. We also have most of the recently released popular movies along with informational and documentary films. Stop by the library and see what’s available.
The library is once again open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. for Saturday Express services. Limited reference and children’s services are offered, but all computers and printing services, as well as check outs and returns are available.
The Fort Dodge Public Library is open Monday and Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. through 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. We hope to see you soon.
