So much food. So much variety. And all of it fresh, hot, and divinely delicious.
We are “Pizza Ranch People,” my favorite dining companion and I. We have dined at the Pizza Ranch from one end of Iowa to the other and never been anything but delighted with the quality of food and standard of service.
On opening day in Fort Dodge this month, we were right there in line waiting to check out all the goodies. While the line was out the door, it took no time at all to get our table and then to the hot and heaping buffets. Along the way we were greeted warmly and welcomed to the Fort Dodge Ranch.
The décor was charming and made for a conversation pizza throughout the meal.
We love Pizza Ranch because it’s not just pizza. There is so much more here. Sometimes I’m in the mood for the crispy chicken, served up with mashed potatoes, green beans, dressing and, of course, a biscuit.
Sometimes I’m in the mood for just pizza, and the varieties here are as limitless as the imagination. On opening day I went straight for the garden pizza, topped with a hearty blend of peppers, onions, tomatoes and spinach — all of which literally tasted as if they had been picked fresh that morning. Even the cheese tasted as if had come fresh from a dairy farm.
My dining companion was thrilled to find a fresh, thin crust pepperoni — his all time favorite — on the buffet table. The Tuscan Roma is also a favorite with Roma tomatoes, spinach and a rich alfredo sauce. Frankly, there are so many varieties that it’s just fun seeing what’s new.
Let’s not forget to mention the salad bar, overflowing with garden fresh lettuce, greens and salads of every kind. I like to get some of the bread sticks and dipping sauce on the side along with my salad to start the meal.
And one of the things I really can’t miss is a trip to the dessert bar — and this is from a girl who almost never has dessert. But the variety of fruit and cinnamon dessert pizzas — with a little soft serve ice cream on the side — is not to be missed!
For us, Pizza Ranch is a welcome new addition to this frontier town.
