Memorial services for Dorothy Skinner, 87 of Grimes, Iowa formerly of Woodward, Iowa will be 5:00 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2014 at Murdock Funeral Home in Perry.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Pastor Donnita Payne Hostetler will officiate.  Honorary pallbearers will be: Alex Howard, Samuel Pelletier, Cameron Carroll, Tommy Carroll, Calvin Carroll, Trent Andrews and Tony Andrews.

Dorothy Jane (Siglin) Skinner passed away Friday, September 5, 2014. She was born February 13, 1927 in Woodward, Iowa  the daughter of Harold and Mabel (McLeod) Siglin. Dorothy lived most of her life in the Woodward area and was a 1944 graduate of Woodward High School.  Dorothy married Renefred Skinner in August 1948 in Woodward where they raised their two daughters, Nancy and Debra.

Throughout her adult life Dorothy battled rheumatoid arthritis.  She had many surgeries and suffered almost constant pain.  However, she still tried to maintain an active life and tried even harder when her family was involved.  Whether it was a ballgame, a shopping trip or just a Pepsi and a talk around the kitchen table, Dorothy did her best to help.  She often asked her grandchildren to remember, if nothing else, “Grandma tried.”

Dorothy is survived by her five grandchildren, Nicole Howard (Bill) of Granger, Cyndi Erwin of Grimes, Melissa Pelletier (Sean) of Urbandale, Joe Carrol (TeRay) of Waukee and Ryan Carroll (Meighan) of Urbandale; two sons-in-law Danny Erwin of Grimes and Tom Carroll of Woodward; a brother, Bob(Pat) Siglin of Perry, nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on December 14, 2012,her two daughters and two brothers.
