The Polk County Board of Supervisors have announced the retirement of Human Resources Director, Tony Bisignano, and of the General Services Director, Mike Grimaldi. They have collectively served Polk County for 67 plus years.
Bisignano has served Polk County for 40 years, beginning with the Health Department when it was under the umbrella of the Des Moines Polk County Health Department. He has since had numerous positions within Polk County and was named Director of Human Resources in 2004 where he led staff in administering employee benefits and providing personnel management to all County departments and elected officials. Bisignano has been an asset to the County because of his dedication to employee development and recruitment. He is currently running as a democrat for the State Senate. Upon Bisignano’s retirement, Mike Campbell, Labor Relations Manager, will be named Interim Director.
Grimaldi began his 27 year career with Polk County as the director of Veterans Memorial Auditorium when ownership was transferred from the City of Des Moines to Polk County. When the facility was transferred to a third party management company in 2004 he became Director of the General Services Department where he led staff in providing centralized support to all County departments and buildings. His staff oversees all purchases made in Polk County, the maintenance and repair of all County buildings, service contracts, fleet management and mail processing. In his years here he has been forward thinking in initiating programs that have reduced waste and saved tax payer money. He looks forward to spending time with his family and grandchildren. Upon Grimaldi’s retirement Deputy Director, John Rowen will be named Director.
The Polk County Board of Supervisors thank Bisignano and Grimaldi for their service to the residents of Polk County and wish them well in future endeavors.
