June Galeazzi, age 86, of Boone, died August 29, 2014, at the Boone County Hospital.
Following her wishes, she has been cremated and a graveside service for June and her husband Richard “Dick” Galeazzi who died October 28, 2003, will be Saturday, September 13, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the Linwood Park Cemetery with Jill Beverlin, June’s niece, conducting. Military honors for Dick will be conducted by the Boone Veterans Council. Burial will follow the service.
Immediately following there will be a Celebration of Life reception and luncheon in the fellowship hall at the Augustana Lutheran Church.
June R. Galeazzi was born in Boone on June 2, 1928, the daughter of Joubert and Dorothy (Patten) Olson.
June graduated from Boone High School in 1947.
On July 16, 1949, she married Richard A. Galeazzi in Boone.
The couple moved to Davenport, Iowa. June worked as a medical insurance clerk at the Osteopathic Hospital in Davenport and continued in that profession at the Boone County Hospital when the family returned to Boone in 1965.
She also worked as an insurance clerk for Rolfes Co. and Drs. Anderson and Rouse.
She began her own business, Medical Insurance Claim Service filing medical claims in 1982 through 1988, when she sold her business and retired. June also was Secretary for the United Way during this time.
At the time of Dick’s death, the couple lived in Quartzsite, Arizona.
June returned to Boone in 2011 to live with her daughter.
June and Dick enjoyed traveling in their RV, making jewelry, and doing different crafts.
June particularly enjoyed oil painting, playing cards, and outdoor activities.
In earlier years, she enjoyed spoiling her grandkids.
More recently, she enjoyed listening to the Boone High School band as they practiced during the week and when they performed in parades.
June is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
She is survived by a son Greg and wife Vickie of Boone; a daughter LuAnn Adams and husband, Sam of Boone; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; a brother Joubert Olson of Santa Rosa, CA; five sisters Deloris Byrd, of Sun City, CA, Bea Blair (David) of La Palma, CA, Lea Orr (Bill) of Appleton, WI, Marilyn Chamberlin (Richard) of Woodstock, GA, and Dorothy Jo McCoy (Dewayne) of Newton, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
