Field of Dreams Ghost Players, “The Greatest Show on Dirt” to benefit Camp Hertko Hollow Inc., Iowa’s camp for children with diabetes

Norwalk, IA, (August 20th, 2014): Ghost players will travel in from the corn fields of Dyersville, IA on Saturday, September 20th to perform their entertaining comedy routine that incorporates children from the audience.  Celebrity game of Ghost Players versus Norwalk Police Officers and Fire Fighters will follow the comedy routine.

Festivities will begin at 1:00pm at the Norwalk-McAninich Sports Complex (200 Wright Road, Norwalk). Concessions will be available for purchase along with a 50/50 raffle and specialty items for sale.

Seating is limited; lawn chairs are recommended.

Cost: Free-Will donation, suggested $5.00 per person.

About Camp Hertko Hollow: Camp Hertko Hollow is a specialized residential camping program for diabetic youth ages 6-17. The camp offers two one-week summer sessions at the Des Moines YMCA Camp site along the Des Moines River, north of Boone, Iowa. The goal of Camp Hertko Hollow is to teach and children afflicted with both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes how to effectively manage their illness in order to help them live long and healthy lives and avoid diabetes complications later in life. Camp Hertko Hollow was founded in 1968 with 37 campers.  Today over 14,000 diabetic youth have benefitted from their experience at Camp Hertko Hollow. In addition, over 120 healthcare staff volunteer their time during the summer camp sessions to provide diabetes education, regulation and safety for the campers. Until there’s a cure for diabetes, there’s Camp Hertko Hollow!
