Anna Mae Jeambey, 92, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at Ramsey Village in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 9, at Iles Westover Chapel in Des Moines, where a visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Burial will follow at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, in Adel.
Anna was born on August 10, 1922 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, one of 16 children to John Aaron and Bessie Alice Van Brogan (Meyers) Leyden. Following high school, Anna attended Beauty School. For many years, she was formerly employed with Younkers. In her earlier years, Anna was often known in her neighborhood as their ‘Neighborhood Mom’. She was a former member of Grace Methodist Church. Anna loved spending time with her family, especially all of her sisters. She was an avid reader and enjoyed reading Bill Bryson books about Iowa, Reader’s Digest, and of course daily newspapers. Holidays were very special to her, especially hosting Christmas. Anna will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her four sons, Kenneth (Carla) Sanburg and Greg Jeambey both of Des Moines, Jim (Patti) Jeambey of Advance, MO, and Jon (Ruth) Jeambey of Naperville, IL; two daughters, Jo Anne (Chuck) Berry of Grimes, and Janet (Denis) Grillo of Virginia Beach, VA; three of 15 siblings, Dorothy Garmoe and Patti (Karl) Messer both of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and Betty Harper of Davenport, IA; and 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and 12 siblings, Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth O. Sanburg Sr.; one son, Jeff Jeambey; and one daughter-in-law, Sarah Jeambey.
