Judy Cuthbert

Judith A. Cuthbert, 74, known as Judy to family and friends, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at the Mercy Hospice Home in Johnston, Iowa. A memorial service will be held in her honor at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Urbandale, Iowa on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 11:00 am. The family will greet friends from 10:00 am until service time. Also, a memorial service in Spencer, Iowa will be held later this fall. Memorials may be directed to the Gloria Dei Church, or Hope Ministries in Des Moines.

Judy grew up in Terril and graduated from Lake Center High School in 1957. After graduation she lived in and worked around the Spencer area. She married Terry Cuthbert March 14, 1970. Judy loved to be a wife, mother, and homemaker. She had a warm, caring smile that made everyone feel welcome. Her family and friends always enjoyed her cooking and how she had her house decorated for each season and holiday. She liked to entertain family for birthdays, holidays and special occasions!

After living in the same house in Spencer for over 40 years, Judy and Terry moved to Urbandale, Iowa to be closer to their younger daughter, Wendi. Judy missed the people of Spencer, but really enjoyed living in the Des Moines area. Since moving Judy has enjoyed going to farmer’s markets, shopping, volunteering at Hope Cafe, attending concerts and school/sporting events for her grandkids. Judy will be missed by all!

Judy was born on January 23, 1940 the daughter of Ervil & Margarete (Johnson) Dotson and they have both preceded her in death. Her memory is cherished by her husband, Terry of Urbandale, two daughters, Jerri Doran of Salida, CO, and Wendi (Leon) Canada of Grimes, six grandchildren, one great grandson, and one brother, Roger (Roberta) Dotson of Iowa City.
