Bill and Lora Knapp know a thing or two about buying and selling homes. They have both been selling real estate for years, and Bill now adds homebuilding to his resume. A co-owner of Ironwood Homes since 2008, Bill has built two of his family’s residences.

Bill and Lora were very happy with their first home build by Ironwood Homes, but when a new subdivision opened up that would allow their home to back to a greenbelt, basketball court and park, they knew they wanted to build again. Just nine blocks from their previous home, the Knapps kept the same floor plan but added a few upgrades to their new home.

One of the most used improvements is a fireplace in their screened-in porch. Lora may have had to push for it, but now the entire family is able to enjoy evenings around the fire without being bothered by mosquitos.  Lora also loves her “throw-all” room off of the mud room. This small room with a built-in desk is a great place to organize all of the papers and paraphernalia that come with a busy family of seven.

Another room that was upgraded in the new home is the space under the stairs. This area has been turned into a playhouse for the Knapp’s youngest child and only daughter, Clare. Complete with a stage, kitchen and disco ball, this room is all girl and a great place for their little firecracker to entertain her four older brothers  — Cody, Chandler, Cade and Colin.

The Knapps built their new home with the intention to stay, creating spaces that will grow with their family. The finishes they have chosen speak to their own individual style and help to create a classic design that is timeless. Some of these finishes include floor to ceiling wainscoting in the two-story staircase, extensive white trim and oversized windows throughout the house. The traditional beauty of the home is also enhanced by the dark wood floors and soothing paint colors, while the unique light fixtures add personality and character.
