Mark your calendars for Friday, Sept. 19 at 5:30 p.m. for the fourth annual Art in the Barn event located in the Simpson Barn, just west of Johnston Public Library.
Work by local artists, appetizers, wine, boutique beer and live music will highlight this annual fundraiser for the Johnston Public Library hosted by the Friends of the Library. This year Art in the Barn will exclusively feature hanging art — pottery, jewelry, pens, cards, knitting and other art will be featured at Craft in the Barn in November. Tickets for Art in the Barn are on sale now at the library or online at art.johnstonlibrary.com and will be available for purchase at the door on the night of Sept. 19.
Come for the art, come for the entertainment or come to catch up with your neighbors. We hope to see you there.
If you can’t make it to Art in the Barn but are still interested in supporting the library, please consider becoming a Friend of Johnston Public Library or donating to the Library Foundation. Friends of the Library are library lovers who support the library through advocacy, volunteerism, fundraising or simply becoming members. The Friends Group was established in 1996 to help the library continue to offer a wide variety of materials, provide input on vital issues and spread the word about the library and its role as a center for literary, intellectual and cultural activity in our community.
The Library Foundation is a non-profit organization run by community leaders who work with the library to address emerging needs and trends through private donations. Funding from the Foundation made possible the library’s recent transition to a new computer system, which offers dramatic improvements in searching, access to ratings and reviews and the ability to browse by genre and format. The Foundation’s most recent project will open this fall — a new space for teens to interact with technology, do homework and hang out.
