Q: I want to get healthy, but can I afford it?

Posted August 27, 2014 in Advice Column, Waukee

A: Everyone today has two things on their mind: money and health care. People every day are living in pain and saying they can’t afford chiropractic care, or healthy food is too expensive. The five most dangerous words in your health are “Maybe it will go away.” The pain may come and go, but the reason you are having the pain does not go away until you identify and correct it. The problem with our health care system right now is that it is based on symptomatic care and not preventative care. Most chiropractors focus on prevention. Sure, we do a great job with pain, but we constantly try to educate our patients on the benefits of regular chiropractic adjustments. A groundbreaking study was recently published about how people under chiropractic care who also make healthy lifestyle choices are healthier and actually save money. The study observed more than 20,000 people during the course of four years and found a 51.8 percent reduction in pharmaceutical costs, 43.2 percent fewer outpatient surgeries and procedures, a 43 percent decrease in hospital admissions and a 58.4 percent decrease in hospital days.

Getting adjusted is not the only thing you need to do to save money and improve your health. People under chiropractic care generally eat better and exercise more, which are essential in living a healthy life. You have to be proactive, not reactive. Call Waukee Wellness today and see how we can serve your health care needs.
