Emery Baxley

Emery Ross Baxley, age 56, of Scranton passed away on Friday, March 14, 2014 surrounded by his family at his home in Scranton.

Born on February 1, 1958 at Houston, TX, he was the son of Alfred and Millie (Lane) Baxley. He grew up in Texas and Washington State and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Federal Way Washington. Emery enlisted in the United States Army following high school and served four years. He was married to Barbara Marie Greer on January 25, 1996 in Tacoma, WA. The couple lived in Washington State until they moved to Scranton in 2001. Emery worked for Hoovestol Trucking carrying mail. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Jefferson. Emery enjoyed motorcycles, fishing, playing cards, having grill outs, and spending time with his family.

Emery is survived by his wife Barbara of Scranton; his mother Millie Baxlely of Gig Harbor, WA; four daughters: Bethany Lepur of Gig Harbor, WA, Jeannie Baxley (Jason Anglin) of Kent, WA, Sarah Baxley (Fred McKinney) of Irving, KY, and Tasha Baxley (Mike Winblad) of Scranton; three sons: Jeremy Baxley and his wife Delfina of Kent, WA, Bruce Greer and his wife Amy of Jefferson, IA, and Leland Baxley (Kelsey Chisholm) of Scranton; sixteen grandchildren; his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Victor and Wanda Patterson of Scranton; three sisters: Janice Miller and her husband Bob of Anson, ME, Sherry Cochran and her husband Dan of Washington, and Jennifer Partridge and her husband Tony of Gig Harbor, WA; a brother Ron Baxley and his wife Laine of Waldoboro, ME; a sister-in-law Brenda Davidson and her husband Tom of Woodward, IA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father and a grandson.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Monday, March 17, 2014 at the Dwelling Place in Jefferson with Pastor Rod Block officiating.
