Freda Line, 99, of Ankeny, Iowa, died on March 9th, 2014 in Sun City, Arizona. The body will be cremated and the ashes will be inured with those of her late husband, Bryant W. Line, (Lcdr, USN) at Arlington National Cemetery.

Memorial Services will be held May 3, 2014 at Memorial Services of Iowa, 4208 North Ankeny Blvd.

Mrs. Line was born in LaCrosse, Wisconsin and grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota where she attended public schools and the University of Minnesota. During World War II she was a research analyst in the Department of Defense in Washington, D.C. As the wife of a naval officer she accompanied her husband to assignments in Hawaii, Japan and Italy.

Before moving to Ankeny, Mrs. Line was a civic activist in the City of Falls Church, Virginia. For her work in the Falls Church League of Women Voters she was voted into the Hall of Fame of the National League. Mrs. Line was a member of the Falls Church Democratic Committee, the Falls Church Bicentennial Commission, the Board of the Falls Church Housing Corporation and the Executive Committee of Citizens for a Better City, of which she also served as President. She was a life member of the Women’s National Democratic Club and a friend of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Ames.

Immediate survivors include a daughter, Stephanie (Gary) Netolicky, two grandchildren, Lara and Casey Netolicky; and a sister, Joan Spell, of Minneapolis.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kirkendahl Public Library of Ankeny, the UU Fellowship of Ames or the Charity of your choice.
