Heartland Presbyterian Church is one of several local worship halls that offer plenty of activities to help get people through what’s left of the winter.

Fellowship is one the best ways to commune and share one’s love in Christ. Clive churches offer a multitude of activities for locals to do just that, and participating is a wholesome and healthy way of getting off the couch and getting through March, as people await the dawn of spring. Such activities include dinners, fundraisers and other social events geared toward kids, teens and adults. Christians of Clive have a variety of opportunities to stretch their legs in Christ.

Heartland Presbyterian, 14300 Hickman Road, opens its doors to youth by offering a weekly meeting of the Scouts Troop 208. Held every Monday at 6 p.m., youth are encouraged to stop in to Heartland’s community center and share in fellowship. The troop has a 24-hour lock-in scheduled beginning on Friday, March 28 at 4 p.m., with a chili cook-off held by Steph Horak. For more information on this and other youth events at Heartland Presbyterian, call 987-4246, or visit its website at www.heartlandpresbyterian.org.

Folks at Faith Lutheran Church, 10395 University Ave., are looking ahead to vacation Bible camp, which kicks off with camp set-up from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, before evening worship. At “Adventures on Promise Island” VBS, kids will enjoy a multitude of events and activities that will help them learn and grow in Christ in a fun and adventurous way, June 10-14, from 5:30-8 p.m. June 8-11. Last year’s camp raised $1,002 to fight malaria in Africa and saw 186 campers. For more information about registration and the camp, call 515-225-8334 or visit Faith Lutheran’s website at www.faithlc.org.

But what about the not so “youthful?” Living Faith Lutheran offers plenty for adults, too. On Fridays, join the guys for a Noon Men’s Bible Study. It’s a great way to spend the lunch hour or just to get out of the house. And on Tuesday afternoons, it’s the ladies’ turn for fellowship and Bible study. Women meet at 2 p.m. on Tuesdays at the church, which is located at 2180 142 St. Call 987-4030 for more information, or visit the church website at www.clivechurch.com.
