Marcella Lestina, age 77, of 968-222nd Drive, rural Ogden, died March 4, 2014, at the Ogden Manor.
A Graveside Service will be Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. at the Squire Boone Cemetery, south of Boone. Burial will follow the service.
Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall on Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Visitation continues Saturday at the funeral chapel from 8 a.m. to noon.
Marcella Ruth Lestina was born in Boone on February 7, 1937, the daughter of Ralph and Lucy (Settles) Gilliam.
She graduated from Boone High School in 1955.
On March 11, 1956, Marcella married Arthur Lestina in Boone.
She was a homemaker until she became manager of the Salvation Army Thrift Store in Boone where she worked for several years.
She also helped her husband on their livestock farm.
Marcella enjoyed flower gardening, especially growing peonies, reading, and cooking.
She loved taking care of her dogs and cats, and raising schipperke dogs.
Marcella especially loved being with her family and enjoying her seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
In earlier years, she enjoyed knitting, quilting, and sewing and making specialty clothing for her daughter and granddaughter.
Marcella also enjoyed monthly breakfasts and lunches with her high school classmates.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a son Kirk Allen; brothers: Roger (infant), Bob, Phil, Jim (her twin), and Jerry; and a sister Lorraine Jubell.
Marcella is survived by her husband Art of Ogden; two sons Jimmy Lestina of Adel and Todd Lestina of Stratford; a daughter Teresa Storm and husband Donnie of Columbia, Iowa; seven grandchildren: Fallon (LeRoy) Moore and children Kollin and Tucker, Sean Lestina, Nathan (Chelsie) Lestina, Joe (companion Kia) Lestina and daughter Olivia, Justin Lestina, Jacob Lestina, and Ty Allen Storm; and two sisters Nancy Grady and husband Jerry, and Cheryl Miller and husband Ed, all of Boone.
