Learn languages with library’s help

Whether you would like to learn a new language or you already speak something besides English, DMPL has materials you can use.

The library’s audiobook collection includes language learning materials for 26 different languages. If you don’t find what you’re looking for in our audiobook collection, another 80 languages are offered through Pronunciator online at It is fun and easy to use. (From, click on Our Collection, Research, All Resources, and P for Pronunciator.)

The audiobook collection and Pronunciator both offer English as a Second Language materials for those learning English. The library also houses an impressive collection of foreign language materials, including books and films.

Race Day at the Library
Tuesday, March 18, 1 – 2:30 p.m.
Race on down to Central Library during spring break to design and build your own racetrack. Listen to a story on racing. Bring your own Hot Wheels car and test out your track, too. For elementary school-age children.

Super Size Games
Friday, March 21, 1 – 2:30 p.m.
Stop by Central Library for super-sized games. You may be the game pieces in this large version of your favorites and play classic games like Pac-Man and Battleship with really huge stuff. This event will be held in the meeting room for tweens and teens ages 9-18.

Teen Divergent Celebration
Wednesday, March 19,
2:30 – 3:30 p.m.
Celebrate the release of the book turned movie “Divergent” by Veronica Roth at the library with a party. Learn about other “Divergent” read-alikes, make a faction bracelet, test your knowledge and more.
