It is a fundamental belief of the Fort Dodge Community School District that diversity is a key component of a quality education. Students who attend schools with a diverse population have the opportunity to develop an understanding of the perspectives of young people from different backgrounds and learn to function in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment.
As public schools become more diverse, demands increase to find the most effective ways to help all students succeed academically as well as learn to get along with each other. The Fort Dodge Community School District is committed to meeting these demands. Our ELL (English Language Learner) program helps students learn how to adjust to our language, culture and education. We are continually working to better understand the link between diversity and excellence in education and our teachers are constantly striving to provide meaningful learning opportunities that acknowledge different perspectives. We take very seriously our responsibility to create a welcoming environment in each of our schools for all members of our school community.
The world around us is changing at a very rapid pace and the same can be said of our country, our state and our community. Our District will continue to be aware and sensitive of these changes, and our number one priority will always be the young people and parents we serve!
