Pa Her was born in Dong Dang, Xieng Khouang, Laos on October 9, 1954 to Cher Kao Her and Yer Vue. Pa’s grandfather was Tong Va Her. She has four brothers and four sisters.
Due to war in 1960, Pa and her family moved to Phamkhom and later to Long Cheng. In 1969, when war came closer to Long Cheng, they moved to Phakhet.
In 1971, Pa met and married Neng Nhia Xiong. When the communist took over Laos in 1975, Pa and Neng fled to Thailand where they lived in the Vinai Refugee Camp. In December 1979, they immigrated to the United States of America and made Des Moines, Iowa home. Pa and Neng have four sons, two daughters, and two grandchildren.
Pa had many talents. She was a skilled seamstress and an exceptional cook. Pa cherished nature and spending time outdoors. She especially enjoyed gardening and fishing. Pa loved her family and friends very much. She touched all our lives. She will always remain in our thoughts and in our hearts.
