DES MOINES, IOWA – February 6, 2014 – The Des Moines West Side Chamber will celebrate the area’s business community and recognize four local business leaders at its annual “Victory Celebration” February 18 from 5:30-7 p.m.
The cocktail reception will feature cuisine samplings and tastings from area proprietors. Dr. David Maxwell, president of Drake University, and Jay Byers, CEO of the Greater Des Moines Partnership, will entertain the crowd with a special music jam. “Muscle Energy,” a band made up of students, staff and faculty from Des Moines University, will also perform.
Four area business leaders will also be honored during the celebration for their contribution to the business district. Recognized will be:
Christina Anderson, Iowa Living Magazines – Ambassador of the Year, recognizing an individual that strengthens the Chamber by welcoming and connecting members.
Matt Coen, Walker, Coen, Lorentzen Architects – Citizen of the Year, recognizing an individual from the Des Moines west side who has dedicated themselves to improving the quality of life in our community over the last year.
Ted Irvine, The Mansion – Soozie McBroom Award, an award named in honor of long-time area volunteer Soozie McBroom, to recognize a member who has worked diligently behind the scenes to make the West Side Chamber stronger.
Mediacom – Business of the Year, recognizing a member business that has gone above and beyond during the year to give back to the community.
