Peter Miover, age 73, of 624 Greene Street, died at his home on January 31, 2014.
A Funeral Mass will be Thursday, February 6, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Sacred Heart with Rev. Randy Schon officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Taps and folding and presentation of the American Flag will be conducted by the Boone Veterans Council.
Peter Edward Miover was born in Ogden, Iowa, on July 8, 1940, the son of Dewayne and Mary (Burke) Miover.
He served with the United States Navy from 1958 to 1959.
On November 4, 1978, Peter married Helen Ireland at Corning.
In earlier years, Peter worked as a Technician Aide in the Detoxification Center at Broadlawns Hospital in Des Moines.
He then worked for the City of Des Moines as an attendant in the parking system.
Peter was a member of the Boone Moose Lodge #104 and AA.
He enjoyed coin collecting, camping, fishing, genealogy, mushroom hunting, playing cards, and golf. Peter also enjoyed watching golf and sports on television.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister Patricia Norbom, and a grandson Anthony Ross.
He is survived by three sons, Peter Miover and wife Danielle of Sigourney, Patrick Miover and wife Robyn of Boone, and Mark Ross and wife Wanda of Ogden; two daughters, LeAnne Kinney and husband Bill and Elizabeth Anderson and husband Brian, all of Boone; two sisters Michelle Stanley and husband Michael of Marshalltown and Christine Perry and husband Edward of Des Moines; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall on Wednesday from 2 until 8 p.m. where a Vigil Service will be at 7 p.m. The family will be present from 6 until 8 p.m.
On Thursday, friends may call from 8 until 10 a.m.
