His body has been cremated and a Memorial Service will be Friday, April 26, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. at Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets with Rev. Sarah E. Duffel officiating. Burial of his cremains will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery.

Rodney was born in Boone on October 9, 1960, the son of Murvin and Wanda (Westberg) Jackson.

He grew up in Santa Cruz, California, with his first love being surfing.

Rod could never get enough of the warm California sunshine and the beautiful blue ocean waters.

In 1984, he moved to Boone with his family to enjoy running the family business, the Hideaway Lounge.

Rod was known for his remarkable bartending skills along with his sense of humor, where he truly knew everybody’s name and flavor.

Rod also enjoyed building model cars, golfing, boating, water skiing, and cooking especially chili and tacos.

Usually when Rod cooked, he would entertain family and friends and play cards all afternoon.

He suffered from severe psoriasis for the last 10 years and bore his illness with courage.

Rod leaves us all behind to treasure our memories of happier days when he was an athletic young man surfing, skateboarding, and playing tennis.

Life in the fast lane with no worries—we will miss you, ‘Radical Rod’.

Rodney was preceded in death by his beloved mother Wanda and his brother Randy Jackson.

He is survived by his father Murvin ‘Murv’ Jackson of Boone, brother Ricky Jackson of Boone, a sister Jodie Uthe and husband Tom of Madrid; five nieces Jennifer, Jolienne, Crystal, Raquel, and Jacque ‘Munch’; four nephews: Jerrod, T.J., Austin, and Joel; many aunts, uncles, cousins; and special friends Steve Meadows and Ronnie Harris.

In memory of Rod, memorials may be directed to the family.
