Got a comment regarding the new roundabouts, or a suggestion about the city’s budget? Or are you just interested in finding out what’s going on in our community? As your mayor, I want to hear from you.
Every month, I schedule a “Mobile Mayor” event at the Johnston Public Library to make it convenient for Johnston residents to share their thoughts with me. Similar to the forums our local legislators hold, Mobile Mayor events are informal, there is no agenda, no speeches, no sign-in sheet. You can come and go as you please.
The mayor in Johnston does not have a physical office at City Hall so I need to be creative in providing opportunities for residents to communicate with me. Phone calls and emails are the most common ways Johnston residents contact me. Frequently I’m stopped at the grocery store or when I’m out walking by someone who provides input on a city matter. Feedback from residents on the things that impact them helps me make the best decisions for them.
Mobile Mayor events provide more opportunity for discussion and dialogue on the many projects and activities going on in Johnston right now. So whether you’re interested in the progress on the new public safety building, the Eastside infrastructure improvements or the Beaver Drive trail, come to a Mobile Mayor event and let’s chat. The next Mobile Mayor is scheduled for February 24 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Johnston Public Library. See you then.
