Highlights of 2012

Posted November 21, 2012 in Altoona, Community Featured

Tis the season for family gatherings and a little reflection. Looking back over 2012, the Altoona Area Chamber of Commerce is proud of our efforts and thankful for you, our members, who make it all possible. Here a few highlights:

We welcomed the Legislative Session into the new year with a reception at the newly-renovated World Food Prize building. We hosted more than 40 weeks of opportunities for professional development, Business Tune-ups, networking and political forums/coffees. More than 100 referrals were made for our membership businesses. We developed a presence on Facebook and Twitter and launched and updated a website to provide you with the latest information while reflecting the energy and forward motion of our organization and community. Additionally, many ribbon cuttings were held and our Ambassadors visited 75-plus business members to thank and congratulate our business partners.

Our Chamber is strong because of you, our great members. With your help we added 44 members and retained 92 percent of existing partners. To sum it up: Wow — 2012 has been an amazing year. I can’t believe my year as president of the Altoona Area Chamber of Commerce is just about over. I want to say a special thank you to our Chamber staff:  Melissa, Anne and Amy. Our organization thrives because of your hard work and dedication to help our member businesses succeed.
