DES MOINES, Iowa (November 8, 2012) – The Vaudeville Mews marks a big milestone next month as the downtown music venue celebrates its 10 Year Anniversary on Wednesday, December 5. Eternal Summers, Land of Blood and Sunshine, and Love Songs for Lonely Monsters will perform at the 10 Year Anniversary Party, along with special Vaudeville Mews trivia rounds. Commemorative posters by Basemint will be available for purchase, as well as limited edition t-shirts.
The music venue has been an ongoing staple in the Des Moines music community, providing a platform for local bands and a welcoming tour spot for regional and national bands making their way across the country. More than 10,000 bands have played the music venue in the past 10 years. Notable acts have gotten their start on the Vaudeville Mews stage including Josh Ritter, Of Montreal, The National, The Decemberists, Fall Out Boy, Will Oldham, Devendra Banhart, and Joanna Newsom… to name a few.
Current owners Amedeo Rossi and Jim Tough opened the Vaudeville Mews with a larger group of like-minded creatives on December 5, 2002. At the time, the venue featured music, theater, and film, before later evolving to focus on music. Booking agent, Ladd Askland, has been bringing in bands to the venue since 2003 — putting together about 360 shows every year featuring international, national, regional, and local acts.
The Vaudeville Mews family extends to the regular patrons, music-loving bartenders, sound techs, door people, and the many bands that entertain the crowds. The Vaudeville Mews invites the entire family to come together on Wednesday, December 5 for the 10 Year Anniversary Party to celebrate, reminisce, and look to the future.
