Eunice Elaine Peters, age 68, of rural Boone, died in her sleep on October 17, 2012, in her home.
A visitation will be Monday, October 22, 2012, from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall where the family will be present. The casket will be closed.
Following her wishes, after the visitation, her body will be cremated.
A private family celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Eunice was born in Mt. Lake, Minnesota, on March 13, 1944, the daughter of Elvin and Elsa (Schroeder) Peters.
Living in Iowa most of her life, she graduated from Le Mars High School in 1961 and received her BA Degree in music education from Westmar College in 1965.
Eunice lived in Des Moines since 1979, but recently moved to Boone.
She was employed by the State of Iowa working with the Soil Conservation Commission and later as a secretary at the Iowa Air National Guard before retiring in 2009.
Eunice had a strong faith in God and shared that strength with friends and family by lending support and encouragement to all who needed it.
She enjoyed helping others and impacted many lives with her generous spirit.
Eunice was a surrogate mother/grandmother to some and a friend to all who knew her.
She had a big heart for animals and was very devoted to her pets.
Eunice enjoyed flower gardening, scrapbooking, and taking care of her dogs.
Eunice is preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by a brother Robert Peters and wife Becky of Urbandale; two sisters, Charlotte Burdess and husband Rich of Boone and Juanita LeClere and husband Rick of Pleasant Hill, as well as one nephew and six nieces.
She is also survived by her dogs, Pepper and Lucy.
