Steven Thomas

Steven Alan Thomas, age 51, of 803-5th Street, went home to his Father in Heaven on October 9, 2012.

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 13, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop Eric Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the Mineral Ridge Cemetery in Ridgeport.

Steven was born in Boone on October 25, 1960, the fourth child of Edward and Joyce (Bowman) Thomas.

Steve worked many years as a baker at Dutch Oven Bakery in Boone.

He later worked as a custodian at Central Iowa Lawn and Home Care in Ames.

Steve always wore a smile and had a heart of gold and would do anything to help anyone in need.

He was always quick with a joke and a sense of humor that could brighten your day at the worst of times.

Steve loved his family and spending time with them.

He endured many tests and trials near the end of his life, but he never complained and tried to make the best of every situation.

Steve enjoyed fishing, writing poetry, and playing games on his computer.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Gary Thomas, a half-brother Mike Thomas, a niece and nephew Tonya and Jeff Cady, and a brother-in-law Virgil Burke.

Steve is survived by two sisters, Vicki Burke of Boone and Kathy O’Brian and husband Charles of Mountain Home, Arkansas; half-brother and half-sister John Thomas and Karen Thomas, both of Colorado; a sister-in-law Lorna Thomas of Boone; nieces and nephews; and a dear friend Ron Gregory of Boone.

Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall on Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. where the family will be present from 6 until 8 p.m.

Visitation on Saturday will be at the Church from 9 a.m. until service time.

In memory of Steve, memorials may be directed to the family.
