Taste of Altoona offers plenty to sample By Josh Hood, president, Altoona Area Chamber of Commerce
Each year more than 70 business members share their favorite recipes and business expertise with the masses, and this year is no different. Mark your calendars for Thursday, Oct. 11, as a reminder to come out and sample to your heart’s desire. The event is being held at the Prairie Meadows Events & Conference Center, 1000 Prairie Meadows Drive in Altoona and begins at 5 p.m.
The theme — “Recipe for Success” — is indicative of our business community and states the importance of doing business locally. When you support a local business you provide the opportunity for that business to return the gesture with its donations to our schools, non-profits and other organizations. Shopping locally creates a special environment for growth and helps attract new business to the area.
What’s new in 2012? A SmartPhone Scavenger Hunt. Guests bring their phones can participate in a little fun and have an opportunity to win prizes. More space. With the expansion and renovations of Prairie Meadows complete, we have awesome space to maneuver and strategize about where to eat first.
As usual, we have great prizes lined up for the drawing — don’t forget to fill out your name and contact information on the back of your ticket before you attend so you can just drop it in the bucket and go eat.
Get your tickets today. Cost is $7 in advance, $9 at the door the day of the event. Kids five and younger are admitted free.
Contact the AACC by phone, 967-3366; email, firstname.lastname@example.org; or fax, 967-3346 for more information or to purchase your tickets.
