Des Moines, IA (September 13, 2012) Salisbury House & Gardens and Des Moines Metro Opera are pleased to announce a joint benefit that will feature leading New York art dealer and critic, Walter Edelman.  Mr. Edelman will present more than 400 works of art at a unique fundraising event to benefit two of Des Moines’ most prominent arts organizations:  Salisbury House & Gardens and Des Moines Metro Opera.

The Art at the Castle event that will be held on Thursday, November 8, will enable guests the opportunity to view and purchase canvasses in oil, watercolor and pastel with the assistance of Mr. Edelman.

Edelman, president of Edelman Fine Arts Ltd., of New York, has spent more than 45 years as an art dealer and lecturer.  Besides traveling worldwide to buy and sell art, he conducts more than 200 shows a year as fundraisers for art museums and major foundations.  Mr. Edelman assists public, private and corporate collectors and prominent entertainment industry figures in building their art collections.

While Edelman is an expert on art techniques of the Old Masters, the period from the 13th through the 17th centuries which produced artists such as Rembrandt, Da Vinci, Michelangelo and Bruegel, he is also a frequent lecturer on art from the 20th century.

A percentage of the purchase price of works sold through the Art at the Castle event will benefit both Salisbury House and Des Moines Metro Opera.  Patrick Van Nice Interiors, LLC is the local presenting sponsor.  For additional information on the event, please email artatthecastle@gmail.com <mailto:artatthecastle@gmail.com> .
