Waukee Public Library Service Changes in 2011-2012

Posted September 12, 2012 in Community Blogs, Waukee

The checkout limit for DVDs and CDs has increased from 3 to 10 items. This reflects our commitment to strengthening our popular materials collections. We believe the increased budget for DVD and CD purchases will allow for a variety of titles available for checkout.

Looking at the figure on page 4 regarding staff per capita, it should come as no surprise to learn that staff is very busy. There are many “behind-the-scenes” tasks that all members of the staff are assigned to. (e.g. planning, processing, inventory, equipment maintenance, etc.) While serving the public is our priority, we have found little time to complete these other necessary tasks. Therefore beginning in March 2012, the library opens late the fourth Friday of each month. Once the library has sufficient staff, we will look into returning to full service hours.

The library board approved a revised meeting room policy. The policy spells out in specific terms what steps a group must take in order to use the meeting rooms.

The donation bricks and pavers returned and are installed in a prominent location just east of the driveway.

Lighting was upgraded throughout the interior of the building. Illuminating the entryway and other areas.
