Forest Hermon, age 87 of Centerville, IA went to meet his heavenly father Wednesday evening, August 8, 2012 with his family surrounding him.
Forest was born July 20, 1925 to Roy and Opal (Benge) Hermon in Winterset, Iowa. He was a World War II Veteran. He proudly served in the Navy from September 23, 1943 to April 9, 1946 and was honorably discharged.
Forest was united in marriage to Minnie K. (McClaskey) Hermon on May 3, 1947 in Winterset, Iowa. They were united in loving marriage for 63 wonderful years. Forest worked for St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Centerville, IA for over 13 years. He loved and lived farming, which he did for the rest of his life. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing music with his family and friends, as well as spending time with his family.
Forest is survived by his children Arthur (Connie) Hermon, Sue (Rick ) Traxler, James (Tara) Hermon all of Centerville, Iowa, Aaron (Norah) Hermon of Burnsville, MN; 13 grandchildren Shyrel, Sam, Corrie, Stacey, Sarah, Melanie, Sunee, Dalton, Ellah, Evah, Nicole, Katie, and Garrett; 9 great grandchildren; a brother Robert Hermon of Tempe, AZ; and a brother-in -law Robert Stroeber of Kirksville, MO.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Minnie K. Hermon; a sister Naomi (Babe) Stroeber; his parents Roy and Betty Hermon; brother Dale Hermon; a sister –in-law Betty Hermon; and several nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Mt Hermon Cemetery in Chariton, Mo with Pastor Larry Hudson officiating. Family and friends will be leaving the Lange Funeral Home & Crematory at 1:30PM Saturday to go to the cemetery. A memorial has been established to the Mt. Hermon Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to the Lange Funeral Home & Crematory, 1900 South 18th St, Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
