Henry “Rocky” Graziano, formerly of Des Moines

Henry “Rocky” Graziano, 62, died on Feb. 19, 2017 at The Kavanagh House in Des Moines after a year long battle with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Rocky was born in Des Moines where he lived most of his life until moving to Cedar Rapids 6 years ago. Rocky was a Dowling alumni class of 1973 and a graduate of Iowa State University. Rocky’s passion was teaching and coaching and was most recently employed by Ruffalo Noel Levitz as a project manager.

Among his many hobbies, Rocky enjoyed spending Saturday’s with donuts and his grandkids, writing, woodworking, biking, puzzles, poetry and watching classic films.

He will be missed by his father, Henry Graziano of Des Moines; daughters, Kassie Graziano-Howe (Andy) of McKinney, TX and Tory Stanley (Nathan) of Earlham, IA; grandchildren, Cecelia, Ralph Arlo and Henry Nash Stanley and Kadence and Finn Howe; wife, Deborah Graziano of McKinney, TX; sisters, Cindy Murphy (James) of West Des Moines, IA and Judy Denny (Marty) of Ames, IA; and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine.

A very special thank you to Mary, for the grace and compassion that she bestowed to Rocky during his battle.

It was Rocky’s request that his body be gifted to Des Moines University to further the education of future physicians and health care professionals.

A memorial gathering will be held Friday, Feb. 24 from 5-8 pm at Iles Funeral Homes-Dunn’s Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hall-Perrine Cancer Center, 701-10th Street Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52403.
