David Larson, 68, of Marshalltown, passed away February 15, 2017.
David Alan Larson was born November 16, 1949 to Jens Willie and Vera Winifred May (Masters) Larson in Spencer, Iowa. David graduated from Ames High School in 1967 and served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971, serving two tours in Vietnam. He received several awards which included the Bronze Star. After his Honorable discharge, David graduated with a degree in design from Iowa State University in 1979. David was very artistic – he played guitar in the band, “The Chessman”, and loved to build and tinker with things. His watercolor paintings reflected his current thoughts and feelings. David loved a good political debate and was happy in nature and lead a simple life.
David is survived by his children, Kara Larson of Clear Lake, Joseph (Christina) Larson of Clear Lake and Robert (Megan) Larson of Ames; three grandchildren, Austin Larson, Jenna Larson and Tyler Larson; two brothers, Paul (Linda) Larson of Ames and John (Julie) Larson of Ames; and his sister, Donna (Tom) Fuller of Rockford, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
