Diverse talent scheduled for all new Acoustic Stage at 2016 Des Moines Arts Festival®

Des Moines, IA – May 11, 2016 – Guests of the 2016 Des Moines Arts Festival® can expect a diverse musical lineup during this year’s Festival June 24-26.   Presented by Meredith Corporation, the all-new Acoustic Stage welcomes a variety of musicians, many from Iowa and the surrounding Midwest. 

“Live music is an important feature of our Festival’s goal to bring culture and the arts of all varieties to central Iowa,” said Stephen King, Executive Director of the Des Moines Arts Festival. “The Acoustic Stage features some exceptional talent, covering a wide range of music styles from folk and pop to blues and jazz. There truly is something for everyone to enjoy.”

The Acoustic Stage is a new addition to the festival line-up up arts offerings. A full schedule for the Acoustic Stage presented by Meredith is available on the Des Moines Arts Festival Website, but the following is a sample of who you can expect to hear the last weekend in June:

  • The Well Pennies: A husband and wife folk-pop duo from Des Moines.
  • Matt Woods: Iowa native songwriter Matt Woods “Outlaw Country” sound is based on classic country and rock ‘n roll.
  • Paul Doffing: Known for touring the country on bicycle, Paul has covered more than 10,000 miles and performed more than 100 shows since 2012 while promoting sustainability and a reduced dependence on fossil fuels.
  • Frances Luke Accord: Frances Luke Accord is an independent Chicago-based duo hailing originally from South Bend, Indiana. Nicholas Gunty and Brian describe their music as a modern folk, but Frances Luke Accord also get their inspiration from Americana, jazz, soul and rock. 

 Other musicians who will perform on the Acoustic Stage include Iowa musicians The High Crest, Milk & Eggs, Steve and Michaela McLain, Luke Fox, The Host Country, Brooks Stause’s Extravision, In Rooms, Dan Trilk, Rob Lumbard, and Rich Webster and Sarah Nevins.
