Sometimes we view leadership as something difficult and complicated, but John Quincy Adams made it simple. He said a leader’s actions inspire others — to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more.
So again, are you a leader? Would you like some tools to make you an even more effective leader? If so, the Altoona Area Chamber of Commerce has something you’re going to love. The East Polk Regional Connection Leadership Program is a new program that will empower people like you to make a positive impact right here in eastern Polk County. Starting in September, the group will meet the second Tuesday of each month and attend a community event once a month. The program is open to anyone who lives or works in Eastern Polk County, with a minimal cost to cover materials. To find out more about this exciting program, contact Mattia Hansen at (515) 250-5331.
And if you’re ready for an ever larger role, consider a two-year term as a Chamber Board member. The Board, a diversified group of Chamber members working in a variety of industries and professions, supports the Chamber and the community by governing and setting policy. Applications are due September 18. The Nominating Committee will review the applications the week of September 24 and sending roster for election to Chamber members the week of October 5. Please consider giving time to this worthwhile organization.
Not quite ready for such a big step? That’s okay. You can start slowly by becoming a member of one of the Chamber committees, where you can support the Chamber’s commitment to providing opportunities and promoting growth through advocacy, economic development, marketing, education and networking.
