Bobbie Lee Rodgers, age 84, of Boone, died at his home on April 20, 2015.
Following his wishes, he has been cremated and a graveside service and burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Memphis, Missouri, at a later date.
Bobbie Lee Rodgers was born in Boulder, Colorado, on April 22, 1930, the son of Charley and Anna (Barr) Rodgers.
In 1940, his family moved to Memphis, Missouri.
He graduated from Memphis High School and on July 1, 1988, Bobbie married Almake Rice in Memphis.
Bobbie served as a member of the Memphis Sheriff’s Department.
Early in Bobbie’s career, he was a member of the Ames, Iowa Fire Department. He then bought his first truck and became an owner/operator, over the road, truck driver. Bobbie later became a truck driver for Stone Container in Des Moines where he worked for 18 years and retired on July 16, 1995.
He was recognized as a One Million Five Hundred Thousand Mile Accident Free Driver. After retirement, he continued trucking with Dickie’s Transport in Packwood, Iowa.
Bobbie is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Almake; two daughters, Terry Rodgers and Sheila Cole; a sister Kathleen Rodgers; and three brothers, Cecil, Harold, and Charles ‘Junior’ Rodgers.
He is survived by three daughters, Jenny (Cory) Stoneburner, Carla (Nick) Harris, and Sarah Rodgers and companion Matt Haugstad, all of Boone; nine grandchildren: Amanda (Larry) Orey, Jessica Stoneburner, Stephani (Jon) Pickrell, Dora Harris, Matthew Harris, Barbara (James) Bruton, Jaiden Rodgers, Drake Haugsted, and Jace Haugsted; and two great grandchildren Jamie Bruton and Kayla Bruton Denham.
