Get the lowdown on your library’s downloadables! Bring your mobile device (smartphone, tablet or e-reader) to one of our classes and get some advice and help installing the library’s apps for e-books, downloadable audiobooks and e-magazines. Classes and apps are all free. Your gadget must have basic setup done (out of the box, set up, passwords entered, charged and know the basics) as a prerequisite to this class. You will need your library card and PIN, and you may need the password for the App Store on your device. Pre-register.

 

Teen Book Club

The Franklin Avenue Library Book Sale is Monday, May 4 – Wednesday, May 6 and Friday, May 8 during regular business hours. For the best selection, come early. On Friday, May 8, everything must go, so come and fill a bag for a buck!

 

Furry Tales

Stop by the library to sign up for a ten-minute slot to read a favorite story to therapy dog Scout. Sharing stories with Scout is a fantastic way to practice reading skills and make a furry friend at the same time.

The Iowa Gold Star Museum

Michael W. Vogt, curator for the Iowa Gold Star Military Museum at Camp Dodge, will give us a slide show tour featuring images of exhibits and interesting artifacts found in the museum’s collection.

Story Times Schedule for the Franklin Avenue Library

Mondays – Preschool Story Time, 10:15 a.m.

Develop your imagination with stories, rhymes, songs, and a lot of fun!

Tuesdays – Baby Rhyme Time, 10:15 a.m.

This weekly program for babies (ages zero to eighteen months) and their caregivers, features rhymes, songs, and bouncing, followed by a period of free play.

Wednesdays – Toddler Story Time, 10:15 a.m. and 10:50 a.m.

Come share stories, fingerplays, and songs.
