AMES, IOWA, April 20, 2015 – The Central Iowa Symphony has received Ames Community Grant funds to bring Los Llaneros to Ames, for the symphony’s last performance of the season. The concert, titled “Cowboys of the Americas” will be performed at the Ames City Auditorium on Sunday, May 3 at 3 p.m. The performance will feature traditional music from Colombia and Venezuela paired with orchestral music by composers from South, Central and North America. Community grant funds will be used to offset the travel expenses of Los Llaneros. For more information on the program and the artists, visit www.cisymphony.org
About the Ames Community Grant Program:
For 2015, the Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau awarded a total of $46,500 in funding on behalf of the Ames Community Grant Program to assist local businesses and organizations in promoting and implementing 27 special events and projects in the Ames area. The Ames Community Grant Program has awarded more than $470,000 to help fund nearly 200 events and projects since 2007. The grant program supports a variety of cultural, educational, athletic, environmental, and art events and activities. Grants are awarded for events or projects with the intent to attract new visitors to the Ames area, enhance visitor experiences and improve the quality of life for area residents.
